County Mayor Declan Hurley invited our whole school to attend the turning on of the Christmas lights in the Cork County Hall on Wednesday 6th December. We had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols on this special day. Thank you to Declan for this honour as a day of enjoyment was had by all.
Heather Cooley in 6th class was weighed down with prizes after attending the Irish Pony Society Cork area and national awards recently. We are very proud of her achievements and wish her all the best in the future!!
We are very happy to welcome Niamh Whelton, our new Special Needs Assistant to Ballinacarriga NS. Niamh has part time hours in the school so will usually in here in the mornings.
Stella and Niamh will make a fantastic new Special Needs team.
Former pupils Margaret Collins & Farrah Healy won a competition to have their art pieces displayed on the side of the brand new West Cork Library Bus!! They entered this competition last May when in 6th class.
Farrah wrote a positive reading adage of her own making – “If you read cover to cover, you speak head to head.”
Margaret drew a picture of with an inspirational Irish sentence she made up herself – “Tá an bus leabharlainne ag dul ó cheann go ceann.”
Well done to both girls!
Our theme for this year’s parade was Saint Brigid. The infants did a great job as Brigid’s followers.

We were all delighted to see the snow today and enjoyed having a run around in it before it melted.
What a fabulous night we had on Thursday 15th December 2016 in Ballinacarriga Hall. The Junior & Senior Infants recreated the Nativity for us to start the night and after that all the children from Ballinacarriga NS took part in the Musical Aladdin! There were smiles all round and a good time was had by all! The night was finished off with some festive tunes! Thanks to all the children who played their tin whistles, guitars & accordions!
