School Planter

We have been busy planting new flowers and even some daffodils in our garden.

Music with Ger Wolfe

This year 1st & 2nd class have been learning how to play chords and simple songs on the ukulele with Ger Wolfe our music teacher.

Fish Tank

Some of the boys in 1st & 2nd class were very excited to see the new arrival of our fish tank, new fish and the very important Ninja the school turtle.

Christmas fun in Mrs. Mc Sweeney’s room

The oldest and youngest in our room putting the star up on the tree and our holiday treat where we had hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows and kinder Bueno toppings. Yum!

3rd & 4th had a Halloween class party, in our pods of course! We had treats and art on Ms Crowley’s last day with us.

Irish Pony Society

Heather Cooley in 6th class was weighed down with prizes after attending the Irish Pony Society Cork area and national awards recently. We are very proud of her achievements and wish her all the best in the future!! 

Making soup

Mrs. Hurley’s class have been learning about the latest changes to the food pyramid on how we should be eating more fruit & veg.

The 3rd class all brought in vegetables & we made some yummy healthy autumn soup!!

They all got to enjoy the spoils after!!

Farrah & Margaret Win Library Bus Competition!

Former pupils Margaret Collins & Farrah Healy won a competition to have their art pieces displayed on the side of the brand new West Cork Library Bus!! They entered this competition last May when in 6th class.

Farrah wrote a positive reading adage of her own making – “If you read cover to cover, you speak head to head.”

Margaret drew a picture of with an inspirational Irish sentence she made up herself – “Tá an bus leabharlainne ag dul ó cheann go ceann.”

The new bus was launched at an event in the Parkway Hotel on Friday 1st September, hosted by Declan Hurley, Mayor of County Cork.

Well done to both girls!

Cork v Kerry Munster football final

Congratulations to Maeve O Neill who will represent her county in football on July 2nd in Killarney during the Cork v Kerry Munster football final!!

Well done Maeve!!

6th class Graduation

Congratulations to the 6th class who had their graduation 👨‍🎓 on Thursday 22nd June.

The 10 girls & boys provided some lovely entertainment- poems, songs & memories!

A fabulous cake was provided by the Parents Association with all the children’s names on it.

 

 

Tag rugby

The 4th-6th class played tag rugby in Dunmanway rugby pitch. Thanks to Dunmanway rugby club for hosting the fabulous event! Great fun had by all!!

School tour

  1. The Glen Resource Centre was a fantastic location for our school tour!! The children were kept busy all day with zip wiring, bungee jumping, zorbing, etc!! Perfect weather conditions too!!

The children in Miss Kelly’s room had great fun learning different types of dance.

The children in Ms. Kelly’s classroom have begun their folk dancing.

Folk dances are dances that are developed by people that reflect the life of the people of a certain country or region.

We look forward to seeing the children’s different dances they learn.

Sow & Grow Update

The boys and girls were delighted to take home their baby carrots, runner beans and cress- they will continue to water and look after them at home!
